Troubleshooting SNMP status in MW

If a device is showing as not SNMP enabled when the user thinks that it should be, these are things you should check:

  1. ensure the device actually is SNMP-enabled in whatever device-specific configuration utility is available.
  2. ensure the device is configured to accept the SNMP credentials that are set in Site Management for that site in MW.
  3. ensure the device responds to the sysName OID (.1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5) when queried from the Onsite Manager outside our software (eg. with ireasoning or snmpmwalk) - this is the OID that's checked for SNMP status, regardless of what monitoring policies are applied.
